Biodiesel Dry Purification Using Unconventional Bioadsorbents

چکیده
The dry washing method is an alternative to replace water washing, thereby reducing the negative impacts of contamination. However, commercial adsorbents come from industrial processes that, due their composition, may not be such a sustainable resource in global biodiesel production process. In this study, use organic residues, as sawdust, coconut fiber, nutshell, rice husk, and hyacinth were proposed bioadsorbents for purification waste cooking oil. Quality parameters acid number, content, free total glycerin content evaluated compared with those after (Magnesol Amberlite BD10DRY). Promising results obtained using sawdust process, achieving reduction number value 31.3% respect unpurified biodiesel. Indeed, was more efficient than BD10DRY (that increased number). addition, reduced by 54.8%, again BD10DRY. values similar between sawdust. Water better Magnesol (399, 417, 663 mg/kg respectively). These show that can used bioadsorbent biodiesel, generating less environmental impact.

Fractionation for Biodiesel Purification Using Supercritical Carbon Dioxide
In recent years, biodegradable and alternative biodiesel has attracted increased attention worldwide. Producing biodiesel from biomass involves critical separation and purification technology. Conventional technologies such as gravitational settling, decantation, filtration, water washing, acid washing, organic solvent washing and absorbent applications are inefficient, less cost effective and ...
متن کاملBiodiesel Purification using an Ion Exchange/Adsorbent Resin with Regeneration through Supercritical Fluids
The glycerol desorption from the ion exchange and adsorbent resin Purolite PD206 was studied using conventional and supercritical fluids techniques. Untreated biodiesel was purified by dry washing using the resin and, after purification, the glycerol desorption was carry out using three diferent solvents: absolute ethanol under atmospheric conditions at different mass flows (10 and 30 g/min), o...
متن کاملRole of Bioadsorbents in Reducing Toxic Metals
Industrialization and urbanization have led to the release of increasing amounts of heavy metals into the environment. Metal ion contamination of drinking water and waste water is a serious ongoing problem especially with high toxic metals such as lead and cadmium and less toxic metals such as copper and zinc. Several biological materials have attracted many researchers and scientists as they o...
متن کاملBiodiesel Production Using Static Mixers
Static mixers, devices used for mixing immiscible liquids in a compact configuration, were found to be effective in carrying out initial transesterification reactions of canola oil and methanol. The objective of this study was to explore the possibilities of using static mixers as a continuous-flow reactor for biodiesel production. Biodiesel (canola methyl ester) was produced under varying cond...
متن کاملAntilisterial peptides from Spanish dry-cured hams: Purification and identification.
The typical Spanish dry-cured ham has a particular sensory quality that makes it a distinctive food, highly appreciated for consumers worldwide. Its particular physicochemical properties, such as high salt content and reduced water activity contribute to their shelf-stability. However, post-processing actions carried out for the commercialization of these products such as slicing may increase t...
